Some time ago I was walking through Canterbury when I came upon Chaucer Crescent, which was pretty cool. As I was going along it I then passed Keats St, which really gave me a thrill. Words can hardly describe my excitement when the next road I came upon was Marlowe St.

This experience was repeated when, walking to Moonee Ponds, I passed Dickens and Wordsworth St one after another.

After experiencing this for a third time the other day I had to go onto to Google Maps to discover just how many suburbs in Melbourne have chosen to honour the literary greats in the street names. So, here are the most literary suburbs in Melbourne (so far as I can tell).

6. Clayton South

5. Moonee Ponds

4. Canterbury

3. Heidelberg Heights

2. Templestowe

1. St Kilda/Elwood
